Mission:
Licking our wounds
Location: Conference room
Timeline: current
Alexander sat at the empty seats in front of him, the senior staff would soon be arriving, yet there would still be empty ones remaining, those who gave their lives. He walked to the replicator, and found himself forgetting that it was deemed a nonessential and taken offline to keep life support and other major system operational. Sighing, he sat back down and picked up a padd, the never ending report that still needed to be finished.
Sav came in next and came to attention. "Sir." She said. They hadn't really had a chance to talk and she did not know if he blamed her for the marines who lost their lives or for not being able to do more to save navy lives. There had been so little time to train her troops and make them into a unit before disaster struck. She looked like shit, much like the rest of the crew. With the XO lost she helped out on the bridge next to her own duties and that left very little time for sleep.
Jade entered the room next, she looked tired too not surprising the amount of Counselling sessions she’d been doing, combined with the third trimester of pregnancy. She offered a smile to both her husband and Savannah as she took a seat.
"Col, Lt." He greeted as he looked up from the pad. "The others should arrive shortly."
“I’ll get some refreshments” Jade smiled as she stood up from her seat again, pausing for a moment as her head spun. “Whoa…” she offered a smile as she sat back down for a moment, offering them a smile. “It’s okay, I got up a little fast is all, it makes my head spin sometimes.”
"You should see the doctor about that." Sav commented. "Just to be on the safe side."
“I will, but it’s not unusual during pregnancy. A drop in blood pressure due to the stresses and strains it puts on your body.” Jade smiled warmly.
A month ago, Sayori Summers had not expected to ever wear red. But here she was, in a red uniform and with three solid rank pips. XO. First Officer. It wasn't how she wanted the promotion, but she knew she had to take it.
It would still take a few days for her trademark grin to come back. She slid quietly into the room and sat to the Captain's immediate right.
Neve hadn't gotten a chance to meet any of the crew, but she entered with a smile on her face. She took a seat and nodded to her CO. "Captain," she said softly.
"Commander," He nodded as he noticed how odd it was for someone other than Commander Douglas.
Sav nodded at everyone who came in. And took in the condition of various officers without saying anything.
Jade offered a warm smile to all those arriving deciding to leave getting refreshments for now.
Passing through the doors next was Lt. Commander Qual'tez Jones. He only member of the crew for a few weeks prior to their run in with the Iconians. Being the Chief of Security, Jones felt a certain level of responsibility of the losses to the crew. Somehow and some way, he felt that he had to come up with some kind of tactical solution to defeat this enemy. Looking at everyone in the room, he tried to hold his head high, but there was a certain level of shame he felt. Especially noticing Commander Summers wearing a red uniform. This was a reminder that the previous Executive Officer was no longer with them. Finding his seat, he quickly sat down.
"Alright people, first things first, I know this is hard, with everyone we lost, and although its a hard way to get the position, I’ve made the decision to promote Summers to our new first officer." Alexander replied, as he looked over to the newly promoted XO. "Second, when we get back to starbase, I will organize a memorial for all the crew we lost."
Jade nodded, the crew needed to say a proper goodbye to the friends and colleagues that they lost. She gave Sayori a warm smile at her promotion.
"I'll endeavour to be as good a First Officer as Commander Douglas was," Sayori told the gathered crew.
"No one doubts that Commander." Alexander paused, "If anyone has any suggestions for the memorial, don't hesitate to speak up."
"I look forward to working with you as well." Savannah said to the new first officer. "And I suggest listening to the crew, see what they want to do for a memorial."
"I will put up a notice for people to sign." Akexander replied as he paused. "Now back to business. Report on repairs, supplies and weapons count."
"The marines are in not too bad shape, sir. If needed I can lend a couple to other departments to help with repairs."
“I can help with inventory of supplies for medical if they need me” Jade offered with a smile.
Nodding, "If you will have time, I am sure after what has happened. You will be pretty busy." Alexander replied as he looked around. "Anything that needs to be reported out of the norm... other than replicators that are down, half the ship being without life support."
“That’s definitely not good news” Jade sighed. “We should manage until repairs are underway though.”
"That we should." Turning to the officers present. "Our rendez vous with the repair ships will be 2 days, take it easy, breaks when you need or want it. None of us is a hundred percent. Call your family. I know they will want the news you are safe."
Savannah just managed not to smile at that. Her fathers had been on the comm even before she had had a chance to let them know she was ok.
Jade nodded as well, she hadn’t had a lot of contact with her parents lately as was the Starfleet life but she tried when she could.
"If that is everything, dismissed." Alexander replied as he stacked up his pads
Jade nodded and slowly rose from her seat, she needed to be in her office where people could find her if they needed to talk.
Sayori was up on her feet too, gesturing for the others to clear the room. She had an engine room to supervise beyond even the workload of being First Officer. This would be a busy day indeed.
