Having spent the last two years on hiatus using up accrued holiday time, as well as wanting to spend as much time with her husband as possible, Jade was busy making sure that everything was packed ready for the move to the USS Iroquois.
After years of trying to get assigned to the same ship as Alexander, Jade had finally been offered the position of Chief Counsellor aboard his latest ship. Though whether that was down to her being six months pregnant was another matter. She smiled as she carried what was left of the few belongs they’d unpacked into the living area of their temporary quarters.
“That’s that all packed” her smile showed just how excited she was at being with him now, rather than having to say goodbye again.
Alex turned to face her, the silver lining to taking this position was that he was able to choose who he wanted as chief. He couldn't choose all of the chiefs, just one. Without hesitation, he chose, not only to finally bring her onto his ship full time. But because he knew of her abilities, and her value to the crew would not only be beneficial, but also crucial, considering what they were going to embark on. "I will get them beamed over to the station as soon as we arrive." He replied as he wrapped his arms around her. "New posting, new memories. Not that we will ever forget the ones we already made."
“We most definitely won’t! We have this little one to show for it.” She grinned as she motioned to her pronounced baby bump. “This baby is our miracle, and me being able to be it’s you at long last is a dream come true!”
"I ain't going god knows where without you." He replied, truth be told, until he was told he could choose her to be his chief counsellor, he refused the position. "I will have an office on starbase 43 until the ship is ready to depart, and fully crewed."
“I guess that’ll be our home until then, but such is the Starfleet life.” Jade smiled. “I’ve got to get used to being a Counsellor again, it’s been a long two years. I’m looking forward to it though.”
"Shouldn't be too long."
“I’m not complaining” Jade smiled. “While we’re off ship it’ll give us more time together, it’s once we get onboard that the hard work starts. Speaking of which I plan to start dropping my hours down in the next 3 or 4 weeks, I’ll still be available for appointments and evaluations that way up until the baby is born.”
"Unfortunately, I do have a lot to catch up on. Ship may not be ready but I’ve been warned there are multiple stacks on my desk."
Jade nodded. “I had a feeling you’d say something like that, well I’m sure I’ll be able to amuse myself for a while. In between that I’ll be sitting feet up resting while I’ve got the chance.”
"You can always sit with me if you wish..." He offered
“I may just do that” Jade smiled. “I’ve no doubt I’ll have a lot of appointments to organize, as well as a lot of personnel files to pour over.”
"Its a date then." He returned the smile. "One good thing to have an office in your quarters."
“That’s very true” Jade smiled warmly. “You can work and I can spend all the time I want with you. That’s a plus in my book.”
"Couldnt agree more." He replied as he turned. "You ready?"
Jade nodded. “You bet I am!” She nodded enthusiastically.
