Sav looked at Ono, Jade and the captain. It was very bad taste for the first officer to lecture his captain in front of the whole bridge crew and she felt for the captain. But also for Jade who was caught in the middle of this. So she stood up. "you are out of order, commander." she said flatly. "Counsellor, if you would join me please. My duties on the bridge are done and I have something to discuss with you. Captain, commander I suggest you take your further communications to the ready room."

“By all means Colonel” Jade nodded as she stood up to join Savannah. “Commander my log will state that I find your attitude combative, and extremely rude even towards your Commanding Officer.” She turned to look at Alexander. “Captain” with that she headed on her way. The sooner Starfleet decided to move Ono on elsewhere the better she’d feel.

Sav exhaled as soon as they were off the bridge, then looked at Jade. "Are you ok?" She leaned against the wall. "That guy is insane. I really don’t understand how he got to his current rank. He is impossible at communicating with others."

Jade was grateful just to be away from Ono, being with him made her head hurt. “He’s a powerful personality that’s for sure” she massaged her temples. “It gives me a headache just being near the man.”

"Come let's find a place were we can sit down and unwind." Sav said calmly. She did not envy the captain having to deal with his first officer. "You need to get your stress levels down now." With both parents being medical professionals, you picked up a lot along the way.

“How’s about the arboretum?” Jade offered a more relaxed smile. “It’s a place I find relaxing, and it’s out of the way of our new XO, for now anyway.”

"Let's go." Sav said and led the way. They walked in silent contemplation until reaching the arboretum. Also it would not do to be overheard about stuff that had happened on the bridge. Sav exhaled when they reached their safe haven. "Ahhhh, this is much better."

"Much" Jade nodded and smiled. "We're alone, I'm not sensing anyone else in here with us so we can talk freely."

"Good." Sav said. "I can't understand how that man was able to make commander and first officer, I really can't."

“He’s a stickler for the rules, in Starfleet’s eyes that’s makes him perfect Commander material” Jade sighed. “The thing is I think Alexander will appreciate the Commander’s Commander style. I just don’t want to be causing trouble for him, maybe I shouldn’t have come aboard.”

"That would be a problem for me." Sav said honestly. "I need a captain who will defend the rights of women."

“Don’t worry Alexander wouldn’t allow that, but he’s more or less stuck between a rock and a hard place where I’m concerned. He can’t show favouritism towards me simply because I’m his wife.”

"I am not saying he should show favouratism towards you, he has to protect the rights of women. Hell of all junior officers really. You can't treat people the way Ono is doing."

“I guess Starfleet think otherwise, he wouldn’t be here if they didn’t have trust in him.” Jade sighed. “I guess we have to get used to being treated like were aboard a military ship instead of a Fleet one.”

"My dear, we are close to war, why do you think there are marines on this ship? I have always been military." Sav gave her an amused look. "Fleet is part of the military, you did not sign up for the merchant marine. But I have never met a marine officer who treated subordinates with this much disdain."

“Then I will make it a point to discuss it with Alexander when I hand in my next report.” Jade offered a smile. “My report will also make what I think official, not that I expect it to make much difference.”

"Thank you." Sav said. "At least we will have done our duty." It made her feel down though, that their universe still seemed to be run by males. So little progress after all these centuries.

"Thank you for standing up for me, that could have gotten you into a lot of trouble. I appreciate it" Jade smiled warmly.

"Any time." Sav said waving it away. "That's what I do as commanding officer marines."
