Mission: New Crew, New Mission
Location: Starbase 43

Savannah was touring the starbase. She did not usually take much time off and today she was looking for some art supplies before the next tour started. She was feeling a bit nervous about it as it had been months since she had seen any action. Her last mission had ended in disaster and she had spent months at home under the care of her father as she slowly recovered her health. It had also earned her a promotion and that felt a bit weird as well.

Sav was wearing an old pair of faded jeans, many of her piercings and ear and nose ring and a leather jacket. Her spiked black hair was highlighted with purple streaks and nothing about her said starfleet at all.

Jade was also touring, getting used to the Starbase and what it had to offer. She’d need to make sure any supplies she’d need were aboard ship before departure, she wasn’t due to have her son for 3 or 4 months yet, but she wanted to make sure they were prepared incase of any surprises. She was looking in a store window at maternity dresses that would be suitable for work wear, deciding to go inside and have a look she turned and almost walked straight into the path of another woman. “Ohh I’m sorry! I should learn to watch where I’m going.”

"Woa!" Sav said as she managed to steady both herself and the other woman. "You want to be careful, ma'am, with that precious cargo you are carrying." She had a deep voice for a woman and a very thick southern accent. And again off duty she laid it on even more.

“That’s very true, I was a little too eager to go shopping” Jade grinned. “I’m Jade Celes-Johnson, Chief Counsellor of the USS Iroquois.”

The other woman's face fell a little. "That's my new ship as well, but I do hope I don't run into you professionally, ma'am. Seen a bit too much of shrinks and doctors the last couple of months. I'm Savannah Sorrel."

“Nice to meet you Savannah” Jade motioned to a little seating area opposite the store. “Let’s grab a seat.” She walked across and sat down. “So much better” she smiled. “It sounds like we’ll probably be talking at some point, but don’t worry I won’t go back over your past I’m sure that’s happened often enough.”

"Oh hell yes. My fathers made sure of that" She laughed. "One is a doctor and the other is a shrink just like you." She followed the other woman.

“I know what it’s like to be pushed into counselling, and it doesn’t help one little bit.” Jade offered a comforting gaze. “I like to help, but on the terms of my patients. It makes counselling sessions flow so much better.”

"I get that. It's the way my da works as well. But both of them were just so worried about me, like two mother hens. It was the first time I got injured in the line of duty and it was a big one. I was off duty for nearly half a year."

“Wow! That’s a long time to be off duty due to injury.” Jade gave a surprised look. “May I ask what your injuries were?”

"I was shot right here." She pointed at her stomach. "They had to rebuild some of my intestines and then it exited through my spine, taking part of it out. So they had to rebuild my spine as well. Took me a while to learn to walk again and sometimes it is still just a little painful. Dad calls it weather pain." She shrugged. "I was lucky."

“It certainly sounds like it” Jade nodded. “I imagine you’ve had your fair share of hospital counsellor’s and psychologists along with way. I know it’s not fun, hence why I do things my own way instead of the way traditional teachings would have me do sessions. I’m afraid the psych evaluation is a must for everyone so it won’t just be you.”

"I would expect no less." Savannah said. "I know you will want to keep an eye on me for a while to see if I am adjusting well." She smiled. "I will try very hard to be honest and not say what I think you want to hear. That is the disadvantage of growing up with a shrink, I kinda know all the tricks.”

“Ahh but this Counsellor is an empath, I can feel what you feel so I’ll know if you’re lying to me.” Jade grinned. “It comes in handy.”

"Oh damn." Sav said laughing. "You got me there. But seriously I don't have a problem with it. I want to know it if I am not 100% fit for duty. So what do you want to drink, I am buying."

“I’ll let you know that’s a promise” Jade smiled. “Now, a Risan sunrise please. It’s a more suitable version of the drink for me, no alcohol.”
